Down lonely avenue of naked trees,
Disconsolate Doubt goes wandering wearily,
Frantic familiar face before him flees,
As though he’s set upon his destiny,
Preoccupied with demons of unease,
Barely a smidge of hope to underpin,
He fails to sense a cause for inner peace,
Close by his side walks Faith his brother Twin!

I wonder if Doubt always wears blinkers, like horses? Which stops him noticing his twin at his side? And screens out hope and joy and all the beautiful affirming things in life? For some people, hope always seems just out of reach 😦

Yes…..this also occurred to me when I wandered around ‘The Grounds’….. Thought of you……Eric was leading a Retreat….not including me. 😉 Hugs!

Doubt will always have his insecuriries. Even as Faith is by his side to provide hope. This was really a great write my friend.

Faith and Doubt remind of the Smile and the Frown. Faith, like the Smile takes less effort than Doubt represented by the Frown. Besides, even when in the deepest of doubt, only a little Faith will bring us out. I have been there in the past…:)

I too find such places inspiring. Also I like old forts, such as the one at Saint Augustine, Florida…something about that old brooding Spanish architecture intrigues me. 🙂

My small poem (following,) is inspired by the thoughtful poem which is re-blogged from the Autumn Ambles site. Thanks!
