Withdraw not from me constant gentle Muse,
Without your warm embrace, I cannot breathe
Your inspiration, writing to enthuse,
Forbid that sword of insight I must sheathe;
Fertility of thought on you rely
To feed the appetite for use of words,
Who reads or hears their souls to edify,
Enriching one and all like hummingbirds;
Your generous Care my heart with peace endow,
Within a world of ever growing din;
Commitment to your cause I do avow,
Pledged loyalty on oath this underpin;
The tenor of my life forever stays
Dependent on your love’s divining rays!

Sunday Sonnet!!

Some soil decorum’s gown with vulgar tongue,
While others acquiesce like senseless sheep,
Unmindful of effect on fertile young,
Their virgin thoughts in bitter bile to steep;
Contaminated seed in good ground sown
Cannot, but yield contaminated crop;
Will ‘Future’ generations ‘Now’ bemoan,
Exhausting efforts, all, decline to stop?
As Nature works with Time all harm to heal,
Can innate human goodness yet prevail?
Despite repeated threats, ill to conceal,
Spirit of Truth shall triumph without fail;
The Future shall forever be unknown,
Until it in the Present shall be shown!

To All My Friends…..

As many of you may have noticed, I have not been as active/present around here for some weeks – going back to late September.

ALL IS WELL!

I have been otherwise occupied…not least with visiting daughter in Germany…and writing.

We are soon off on an extended holiday in South Africa….until after New Year.

Will be revisiting the much loved Garden Route from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and back….

Since there is never a guarantee of getting ‘online’ I am unlikely to be very active here or elsewhere;

Moreover, if/when I comment on any posts, reactions will be notified and my E-mail box is likely to be flooded.

So, I might well be ‘reading’ posts and ‘reacting’ to them but will refrain from posting comments..or posting anything on my blogs.

Deo Volente, departure is scheduled for end of month….return early January.

May I now wish you all, Festive Season Blessings…and Good Wishes for 2017!!!

Sunday Sonnet!

When populism stirs uninformed hearts,
Evoking deeply held unfounded fears,
Fair Reason from the Masses soon departs
Leaving a Nation’s raison d’etre in tears;
Dishonesty of intent shall emerge,
Unable, deep divisions then to mend,
Resulting, once, in Gorgon’s deathly dirge,
Against such repetition, God, defend;
Though Grace and Patience be our constant mien,
Let lessons learnt from recent painful past,
Invigorate our latent righteous spleen,
Miscarriage of true justice to recast;
Would that the hand that wrote on Shazzar’s wall
Divine hope-filled denouement for us all!

Sunday Sonnet!

Some seek the greater good e’er to promote
While some beyond themselves can never see,
Pathetic plight endemic fails to note
The need for more compassionate to be;
Raw, surfeit human senses tend to dull,
To taste, to touch, to smell, to see or hear,
No time the possibility to mull,
A future destitution spell to fear;
The needy know their bounty to embrace,
Oft willing with their fellowmen to share;
Commendable to see such selfless grace,
Ennobling gift engraved in mutual care;
Perceptive let the Present them inform,
Unwholesome to the Wholesome can transform!
