Sunday Sonnet!

Too soon the Winter sun in western sky
Declines, as though in fear of pending Night,
So little time for aged to say ‘Hi’,
Their darkened spirits to be filled with light;
Restricted to the friendship of four walls,
By ruthless limitations of old age,
Vicissitude of Winter’s whim forestalls
The yearning heart, fair weather to engage;
O, that the warm embrace of Summer’s sun,
The cold, dark days of Snow Queen would displace,
A brighter mien to bring to everyone,
And smiles return to every sullen face.
Pray, tarry not much longer Blessed Spring,
Great harbinger of joy for all to sing!

Off To The Brethren!

πŸ€—

Many of you will be familiar with my annual visit to the Brethren in the Monastery. I have been associated with them for many years now…….πŸ€“ I have always tried to make at least one visit a year to the Community. Over the past several years I have gone to share in their lifestyle….entering into the rhythm that prevails in the Community.

Will be joining them on Saturday, next,Β  for the whole of the following week. I’m unlikely to be spending much time here on the blog.

Will be holding you all….family, friends et al in my prayerful thoughts.

Take Care!

Be Blest!

Sunday Sonnet For ‘T’!

We ask not why a young life should endure
Such ravishing affliction, as this maid,
Nor doubt this malady lies in your cure,
Although misgivings render us afraid;
Like budding rose awaits its summer bloom,
Her teenage aspirations know no bounds,
Yet, now her future seems to presage gloom,
And suffering the highest hopes confounds;
In humble supplication we implore,
In deference to your most Beloved Son,
As much as we His legacy adore,
May, in the end, your Gracious Will be done –
Pray, grant release from hope-devouring pain,
That she her young life’s vigour might regain!

Sunday Sonnet!

As Janus bids farewell for ‘nother year,
Fair Februa, with cleansing undertone,
For some infer new life will soon appear,
For others, though, warm Summer soon is done;
While northern farmers ready soil for seed,
Their southern counterparts prepare to reap;
No need for either to succumb to greed,
For Nature services our every keep.
What shame that bounty be not fairly spread,
As everyone must bear the colder climes;
None can survive without the daily bread,
And none escapes reward when Death’s knell chimes;
Thus be the cycle of this mortal life,
Though some be deemed to burden undue strife!

Sunday Sonnet!

Anticipation warmed within our hearts
As we imagined seeing kith and kin,
Aware that untowards can play their parts,
Attend, all joy with hope to underpin;
Add to all plans the spice of simple trust,
A leaven that eternally endures;
Assistance, all Divine, regards the just
And wholesome blessed endings e’er ensures;
Without ill intervention jaunt ensued,
Enriched by fulsome pleasure all the way;
To everyone, encountered, joy accrued,
Creating lasting memories each day.
Laudate Deum for felicity,
That freely flowed, through gen’rous hearts, to me.
