Sunday Sonnet!

When in the quiet of my solitude,
Unshackled thoughts take flight to sites unknown,
No challenge can their energy denude,
Nor have they qualms wherever they are blown;
Such gay abandon bouys their boundless joy,
Like fearless birds of prey out on the wing;
None can their appetite for fun destroy,
Or prematurely shall them homeward bring;
Yet, when their haring spirits are well spent,
And flagging gaiety shall be no more,
Then rootedness to longing shall give vent,
Contentment to the reverie restore.
Breached reservoir of creativity,
Allows unbridled giftedness to be!

  5. Beautifully expressed (as usual) I love the metaphor about letting creativity fly unbridled so that it can come back home when it has seen what it needs to. hope this makes sense? bravo -Have a wonderful week, Babs x

  7. excellent, E! Ode to the Muse… I always read your sonnets at least twice, once for the music of it and again to try to understand the contents.

  8. I miss WordPress classes… like the poetry101 and poetry 102 participatory lessons. Those sessions from last year introduced poetry writing to me…and have brought great joy…and a host of good friends.

  10. Beautiful poetry as always! A great way to start a Sunday … except I never seem to get to reading them until Thursday or Friday πŸ™‚ Ah well, better late to the party than to not show up at all. And as for those mind wanderings … I love them. That is what I do on my daily walks (and when folding laundry) … just let my mind run free for a while. It seems to knock some of the spider webs out of the brain and give me renewed focus afterward.

    Many hugs!!!
