š
Confronted by steep hills say not, I can’t,
Unless you know what lies within your means,
An insight which, to mortals, most, is scant,
For who can tell what lurks within the genes?
‘Impossible’ can maim the boldest heart,
Reducing what ‘can be’ to ‘cannot be’,
From thence, hopes, instantaneously depart,
Disabling human spirits to be free;
The blackbird renders fulsome morning song,
A gift by Mother Nature well endowed,
The blossom blooms itself among the throng,
Existence raison d’etre is thus avowed;
Engender in all beings self-belief,
Life cannot have a better leitmotif!

A most insightful sonnet….and such a beautiful image. I was in Hampshire this weekend staying in the middle of the countryside and the birdsong and flora/fauna was absolutely stunning. Enjoy your Sunday evening…Janet xxx

I think we tend to give up and say we can’t do something.People say to me,I can’t write poetry but they have never tried!I find your image very impressive.:)xxx

Indeed….Some ‘give up’ too easily….while others fail to acknowledge their limitations… Hugs! ā¤

So many times, especially in the last few years, I have tried to eliminate the word “cannot” from my vocabulary, yet somehow it always creeps back in. Beautiful sonnet, dear friend! Hugs!!!

Thanks Jill. Easily done….though brave to admit to one’s limitations…. Problem is to ‘know what we can and cannot’…. š Hugs!

Always sad when people give up easily, not realising that if we just went on a bit longer, kept faith a bit more, even tried something out for the first time, it would make a difference. Frankly, being told that something is ‘impossible’ is like a red rag to a bull to me … š
