Sunday Sonnet!

Fear not an unknown venture to engage,
Nor let resistant doubt your hopes becloud,
Though failures past bright future would upstage
And low esteem the promising enshroud;
The coldest winds of winter oft betray
Enlivened kith and kin yon curtains drawn,
Determination faltering thoughts allay
Like burgeoning light announces ev’ry dawn;
Though dark the night of self-belief may be,
Confounded by unhelpful words around,
The Spirit opens fading sight to see
That evermore God’s grace in all abound;
Assured, faint hearts are never left alone,
When faithful venture into the unknown!

Sunday Sonnet!

Farewell, dear friend, the best was not to be
That souls with common cause shall live as one,
The reason, now, is not for us to see
Until the running sands of Time be done;
Sharp pangs of pain grave grieving hearts pervade,
When peaks of expectation come to naught,
Temptation space of emptiness pervade,
And solace in alternatives are sought;
Let moments linger long to cogitate,
Like Nazarene bent writing in the dust,
Allowing dismal mood to dissipate,
Facilitating Hope to nourish Trust;
To part, brings past events into review,
To meet, opens the doors of vistas new!

Sunday Sonnet!

‘A little while and pain shall be no more,’
The still, small voice within me reassured;
Affliction wracked my being to the core,
Though signing not, ‘How much to be endured’;
Attended lovingly by caring hands,
The touch of which imbues internal toil
With hope, perdurable, that ne’er disbands,
So deeply rooted in the soul’s subsoil;
His quivering voice, adorned by faintest smile,
Bestirred the innards of a grateful heart;
Can mortal man survive such searing trial,
Enough to rent most powerful apart?
Belief translates impossible to be
A miracle for family to see!

Sunday Sonnet!

Within the confines of this darkened room,
Surrounded by unspeaking silence, I,
Undaunted, rise to front oppressive gloom,
Its ogre-threatening gestures to defy;
Encouraged by the endless lack of sleep,
My broken spirit leans towards distress,
In mortal fear portending dungeons deep,
From which redemption beggars trust, no less;
Yet, deep within the soul resides a spark,
Though buffeted by life-destroying storm,
Retains its luminescence in the dark,
The embers of the faintest hope to warm;
While breathes a being on this transient earth,
Persists the prospect ever for rebirth.

Sunday Sonnet For ‘T’!

We ask not why a young life should endure
Such ravishing affliction, as this maid,
Nor doubt this malady lies in your cure,
Although misgivings render us afraid;
Like budding rose awaits its summer bloom,
Her teenage aspirations know no bounds,
Yet, now her future seems to presage gloom,
And suffering the highest hopes confounds;
In humble supplication we implore,
In deference to your most Beloved Son,
As much as we His legacy adore,
May, in the end, your Gracious Will be done –
Pray, grant release from hope-devouring pain,
That she her young life’s vigour might regain!
