Sunday Sonnet!

As though in rhythmic tune with breeze they danced,
Bright faces smiling gaily as they swayed,
Recalling thought of erstwhile spring romance,
When young hearts went a-walking one fine day;
Beneath a cloudless cerulean sky,
A gentle zephyr kissed enchanting blooms,
As hand in hand young lovers walked nearby,
While whispered speech their precious time consumes;
In earnestness they solemnly avowed
Their loyalty into eternity;
Misfortune would their destiny becloud,
Fruition of their dreams was not to be.
Idyllic plans for future oft are made,
Then by reality to be betrayed!

Easter Sunday Sonnet!

Does Eostra flaunt her Spring fertility,
As some would tend at this time of the year,
Promoting coloured eggs all chocolaty,
Supplied in plenitude by generous hare?
Beneath such sensate pleasures there resides
A more enduring paragon of grace,
Accessible to all, with none besides,
Awaiting meek acceptance to embrace;
For devotees of Man from Nazareth,
The Queen of Festivals the heart enthrals,
Proclaiming central lodestone of their faith,
Triumphantly, with ‘Al-le-lu-ia’ calls!
From dereliction of a barren tomb,
Came forth New Life as from a fecund womb!

Sunday Sonnet!

Too soon the Winter sun in western sky
Declines, as though in fear of pending Night,
So little time for aged to say ‘Hi’,
Their darkened spirits to be filled with light;
Restricted to the friendship of four walls,
By ruthless limitations of old age,
Vicissitude of Winter’s whim forestalls
The yearning heart, fair weather to engage;
O, that the warm embrace of Summer’s sun,
The cold, dark days of Snow Queen would displace,
A brighter mien to bring to everyone,
And smiles return to every sullen face.
Pray, tarry not much longer Blessed Spring,
Great harbinger of joy for all to sing!

Mini-monoverse – Spring!

IMG_9295(WP)

Busy bee,
Humming free,
Full of glee,
Near the tree,
Circle me.

Blackbirds sing,
Church bells ring,
Everything,
Tidings bring,
This is Spring.

Kyrielle #2 – Sing to Spring!

IMG_5581(WP)

In gratitude for each new day,
As feathered friends their ditties sing,
Let every living creature say,
All Hail, the Advent of our Spring.

As Sun its early risings make,
May dullards not to blankets cling,
Tis time in chorus to partake,
All Hail, the Advent of our Spring.

Adore the colour of new blooms,
Fair daffodils delight do bring,
The atmosphere filled with perfumes,
All Hail, the Advent of our Spring!
