Be wary of the thoughtless word that sneaks,
Well-masked, into the innocent converse;
A pitfall which way-lays whoever speaks,
Whether it be in common speech, or terse;
Too easily, too often humans meet,
As is the wont of Homo Sapiens,
In deference to politeness, stop to greet,
Lest they be deemed outlandish aliens;
To treat the other as you treat yourself,
With unreserved acceptance, and with grace,
As though such be the Oracle of Delph,
Will never either’s dignity deface;
Proffer not that of which you know the least,
For you, such words may be a bitter feast!

With gratitude we celebrate her birth,
One hundred years ago on London’s earth,
A lady sweet and kind,
A Life for others, mind,
A treasure to be cherished for her worth.
Her gen’rous disposition knows no bound,
Her selfless caring nature rarely found,
Devoted to her son,
Concern for everyone,
Her life will to the general good redound.
May blessings now descend on dotage years,
Contentment save her from untoward fears,
Her fortitude with grace,
That at the end for her there be no tears!

Treasures of 2016
As dispensation ‘Old’ draws to its close,
Let no one questions of its going pose,
Relinquish all regret,
Be Thankful, ne’er forget,
To Kindness in the New our hearts dispose!

May Grace prepare the contrite heart for joy
That comes with advent of a little boy,
May all the world resound,
The missive most renowned,
That Peace in all Creation shall abound!
