Sunday Sonnet!

Do not the lack of sunshine e’er lament,
When pregnant clouds their bounty on earth shed,
Such blessings for our well-being are meant,
Extol with thankfulness the gift instead;
Untended go the prayers for rain elsewhere,
As parched and famished creatures, young and old,
With yearning eyes into the morrow stare,
Expectant, but of suffering untold;
Forever in the human mind persists,
Ambivalence of what is bad or good,
In heart of Mother Nature none exists,
Fostering in all a sense of brotherhood;
Prosperity bespeaks a word of thanks,
Adversity among the noble ranks.

Sunday Sonnet!

dsc01895wp

If dark clouds herald much sought after rain,
Reflected in the barren, bone dry earth,
Not only shall relief be brought to pain
But latent life to dormant seed give birth;
For nigh two years only the dew of night
Enabled hapless fauna to survive,
But failed to waken flora to delight
Life’s downcast mood, with colour to revive;
How oft our expectations suffer such,
When promise fades within our pleading grasp;
None other can we do but at Hope clutch,
And Trust within our bosoms tightly clasp;
The voice of Mother Nature gently speaks:
Sweet Patience your attention humbly seeks!

Sunday Sonnet!

img_7132wp

As float fair cirrus in the evening sky,
In harmony with jovial gliding gulls,
So moments of kind thoughts respite supply,
The end of day fatigue with calm annuls;
Too little do we hear the voice within,
Or heed what Mother Nature shows without,
Preoccupied with life’s perpetual din
Until neglected soul is spent by drought;
Then, driven by the spirit to survive,
Priorities, alas, must re-allign,
Lest suffering forever we contrive,
Constructive life to dustbin we consign;
Embrace the timely caution proffered here,
Adorn the precious soul with tender care!

Deceptive…..

Nature’s portents heed,
Feathered friends their refuge seek,
For impending storm!

Prompted by The Wind…

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Flight of Fancy!

Sombre wind through window moans,
Blending with the old man’s groans,
Silence shrouds the darkened room,
Deepening apparent gloom,
Of expected doom.

Flick’ring flame of candle light
Filters through a crevice slight
Left by door faintly ajar,
Quavering like a distant star,
Promise from afar.

Old man on his pallet stirs,
Moaning wind her tune defers,
Muffled footsteps sidle softly,
Kindly treating silence deftly,
Touches aged lightly.

Patient vigil ends anon,
When a whisper clear is born,
Water wets his smiling lips,
Streak of light through curtain slips,
Just as eye unzips!
