Sunday Sonnet!

img_3834wp

A smiling stillness bathes the sunlit wood
Enhancing Autumn colours of the leaves,
As ramblers idly amble, feeling good,
Engaging flights of fancy none perceives;
Few bees, with butterflies, caress fair blooms,
Imbibing nectar, gathering fine spores
To place elsewhere, like dedicated grooms,
Transition oft accomplished without pause;
Attend, the charm of Nature to behold –
Let senses, all, the miracles embrace
And open souls be filled with joy untold,
Becoming of a gift of Divine Grace;
If wonder be the basis of all being,
Then ponder be the reason for all seeing!

Sunday Sonnet!

With gratitude my heart adorns this day,
Replete with benedictions from above,
Deserving of a priceless prayer bouquet,
For fourscore years of untold gracious love;
From birth His presence shielded me from harm,
Although it did not always seem that way,
When ‘Untoward’ assailed, causing alarm
Threat’ning o’er self and fam’ly to hold sway,
Through loyal kith and kin, His love prevailed,
Occasioning no Rubicon be crossed;
In Autumn years new person is unveiled,
To all with sensitivity embossed,
Let all the world in dulcet tones extol
The good God that today embrace my soul!

Sunday Sonnet!

Beneath the dust of mind’s forgetfulness,
Interred, lie dormant, treasured memories
That waken to enquirer’s kind caress,
A fountainhead of joy for retirees;
Impeded, not by favour nor through fear,
A torrent of delightful smiles ensues,
Relating raunchy tales for all to hear,
Into the distant years of blue suede shoes;
Alas! Like clay within a potter’s hand,
Sweet Truth consents to being plied by age,
Much better to indulge this happy band
Than see them trapped within a joyless cage.
Embrace, content, those mild autumnal years,
Lest, they be filled with unremitting tears!

Autumn beckons,
Summer declines;
Winter threatens,
Spring resigns –
Nature divines!
