Fear not an unknown venture to engage,
Nor let resistant doubt your hopes becloud,
Though failures past bright future would upstage
And low esteem the promising enshroud;
The coldest winds of winter oft betray
Enlivened kith and kin yon curtains drawn,
Determination faltering thoughts allay
Like burgeoning light announces ev’ry dawn;
Though dark the night of self-belief may be,
Confounded by unhelpful words around,
The Spirit opens fading sight to see
That evermore God’s grace in all abound;
Assured, faint hearts are never left alone,
When faithful venture into the unknown!

It’s so encouraging too – go on Gill, no matter how timid and inadequate you are, the Spirit can do what you can’t … faith and willingness are required, both encapsulated in your sonnet xx
