Would you betray me with a kiss?
The dreaded question for deceit,
Most antithetical to bliss,
The way to personal defeat.
Uncommon custom to close friends,
Would you betray me with a kiss?
A gesture that no one offends,
When proferred with no ill remiss.
When loyalty has gone amiss,
Exposing Trust to Evil’s guile,
‘Would you betray me with a kiss?’
For sure true friendship shall defile.
Whether through choice or by design,
Such treachery shall none dismiss,
May Life me ne’er to this consign –
Would you betray me with a kiss!

The kiss of betrayal for one became the kiss of salvation for all…:)

Would that condone betrayal? π

Hope you didn’t understand that to be my meaning. I was just referring to the fact that Jesus died on the cross for all of us. The kiss that Judas betrayed Jesus with is still being symbolized today by so many who still resist the hope He brought to all. I would never condone the betrayal of our Lord.

Thought you didn’t….just posing rhetorical question…for those who might perceive the ‘betrayal’ as a necessary evil…. π

Yet there are so many who seem to have forgotten that that precious blood was shed for all of us today as well as it was then. To me that is just as much a betrayal as that bitter kiss.

And so it is……Worth remembering ‘for all’…..would that include even the betrayers/deniers et al? π

Yes……Acts 10 :34 and 1 Timothy 2 :4 then Titus 2 :11, 13, 14 does a great job of answering this question. Wish others would as these questions, as well.
