Raising his glass,
To toast a generous host,
Then tuck into the Sunday roast,

Why ‘alas’? I thought it was an expression of regret. Nothing further from this wonderful reminder that Sunday roasts are one of life’s little big pleasures…

Well spotted…..Coming as a result of negative expectation being disproved. Indeed….Alas, regret the negative expectations have to ‘eat humble pie’. 😉
First class, indeed:)xx
Thanks Janet….. 😉 ❤
I can relate to the “Alas” because it reminds me of an old commercial line, “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing!” That picture makes me drool..:)
Good…Picture deliberately chosen. Glad you can relate…… 😉
If you make a habit of showing wonderful looking food I’ll have to stop following your blog in order to prevent myself from overeating…;)
Ha! Ha! Not to worry! I have to prevent myself from doing this for the same reason…..Don’t go away! 👀👀
I’m not going any where. I tend to remain loyal to my friends, even the one I’ve never had the occasion to shake hands with. I guess we can shake across the “web.”
Yeah! High Fives…as the young ones say/do. 😉
Sometimes a bit hot for a lunch at lunchtime down here in summer.
Yeah! I remember the time I lived in those latitudes…..Enjoy yours later, Peter!
Well,it is different from your flower posts and just right for a snowy day.:)xx

All the way! 🙂
Yeah, that roast looks really good. Well done my friend.
Personally, I just had a nice Ale and Vension stew, lovely!
